The ICC has released a new ranking of Tests, ODIs and T20 after the annual update. According to the rules, the ICC deleted the record for the year 2016-2017. At the same time, after the release of the new ICC Test rankings, Team India has reached the 3rd position. Team India remained number 1 since October 2016, where its kingship ended on Friday. However, during this period, the team led by Virat Kohli has created history and the Indian team remained at number 1 position in the Test for 4 2 months for the first time.
In the ICC Test Ranking, the Australian team is the most in terms of being number 1 for the most months. The Australian team remained at number 1 position for around 95 months between 2001-2009, followed by West Indies at number 2 on the list which was at number 1 position for 89 months from 1981-1988.
At the same time, Australia is 3rd in this list, where it was number 1 for 60 months between 1959-1963. Whereas West Indies is 4th on this list. The West Indies had been number 1e for 60 months from 1964–1968.
Australia is in the fifth and sixth positions, which was ranked number 1 for 44 and 43 months respectively between 1995-1999 and 1974-1978. India is now at 7 places on this list. Team India remained at number 1 for 42 months. Indian captain Virat Kohli is the first captain who has been in the 1st place for so many days. Team India has left England behind. England was at number one for 37 months from 1970–1973.
Let me tell you, the ranking was formally used by the ICC in the year 2003, but it works retroactively to underline the performance of the teams and players of the past using this ranking system. Using the same system, Australia has been world number 1 for 95 months from September 2001 to July 2009.
